This mountain biking big day out is just short of 51 km with an impressive 1300 m of climbing. It's not a race and there is no prize; its just a good excuse for a testing ride around some of the most beautiful scenery Snowdonia has on offer.

The "Snowbikers Circuit" involves making a clockwise tour around Cadair Idris, the second highest peak in Wales. The route takes in Dolgellau, the beautiful Tal-y-llyn lake, Bird rock, the old monks route of the Ffordd Dhu, and the spectacular Mawddach estuary. The route mostly uses quiet back-lanes, cycle ways and ancient mountain paths, and although there are significant off-road sections, the required level of technical ability is modest. Fitness? Well that’s another story.

The Cadair Idris Challenge is open to anyone who stays with us at the Coed Cae B&B . We will provide you with a route card, and all you need is a bike fitted with a trip computer. We will check your mileage at the start and finish, log the actual riding time and issue a completion certificate. We use ride time rather than total time so that you can stop when you want for as long as you want, and it won’t affect the challenge. After all, you are on your holidays!
